Executive Team

M.B.B.S. (UWA), FRANZCP, Chief Executive Officer of The Marian Centre; Dr Chapman is a Consultant Psychiatrist working in private practice. Dr Chapman has experience in the areas of Consultation-liaison psychiatry and hospital administration. He has worked in most of the public and private psychiatric units in Perth.
His main areas of interest are the psychiatric aspects of medical illness, psychopharmacology and development of hospital programs. Information technology and its application to medicine are one of his chief interests.
Dr Chapman continues to be a Senior lecturer in the Department Psychiatry at the University of Western Australia. Dr Chapman is a lecturer and examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of psychiatrists. He has served on the major college committee for Western Australia and was the Chairperson of the Quality Improvement Committee.
Dr Chapman has publications in the area of Organ Transplantation, Psychopharmacology, Endocrine illness, Treatment guidelines and the Health and well being of Medical Staff. Dr Chapman has been involved with the establishment of Psychiatric units including the Mills Street Centre, Alma Street Centre, Swan Valley Centre and the Proposed Osborne Park Psychiatric Unit.

Dale Nelligan has provided years of dedicated service to the idea, inception and creation of The Marian Centre and has many years experience in the healthcare industry. As The Marian Centre's Chief Operating Officer she oversees the management of The Centre's daily activities and is responsible for operations management. Dale's areas of interest are in the development, design, and improvement of the systems that create and deliver the highest level of quality care that The Marian Centre prides itself for.

Director of Nursing

Mr. Ross Cowin

BSc Nursing, Director of Nursing and Therapy. Ross is a nurse who has been a clinician and manager in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Units since the early 1970's. His experience includes both public and private mental health settings within Western Australia, including Stubbs Terrace Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital. He was a lecturer in Child and Adolescent Mental Health at the Western Australian School of Nursing and he has served on many HDWA committees as a representative for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. These committees included Recruitment and Retention of Mental Health Staff, Education and Policy Development committees. Ross was involved in the development of the Mental Health Nurses career structure. His interests include program development and the integration of Information Technology into Mental Health. He spent several years as a business analyst on the LAMHIS and PSOLIS projects.

M.B.B.S. (Flinders, SA), FRANZCP, Certified Child Psychiatrist, Medical Director at the Marian Centre, of outpatients services.

Dr Hryniewicki is a Consultant Psychiatrist working in private practice. Previously he practiced as a Consultant Psychiatrist in various public and private mental health services. He was also involved in setting up Mental Health Services at Juvenile Justice Division of the Western Australian Department of Justice and worked in State-Wide Forensic Mental Health Services. He was actively involved in Forensic and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Sections of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and frequently provided medico-legal and clinical opinions to other Medical and Correctional Services. He is an active supervisor involved in post-graduate training and associate Senior Lecturer at Notre Dame University.

Dr Hryniewicki has a special interest in psychotherapy and its application to the group setting. He also has been involved in developing a range of inpatient and outpatient therapy programs as well as ECT Program at the Marian Centre.

Dr Hryniewicki was consulted about IT Health Solutions and worked closely with various programmers and software developers in integrating inpatient and outpatient IT services to minimize clinical risks and improving effective flow of clinical and demographic information. Some aspects of this large project were conducted in close collaboration with Medical Defence Association (MDA). In the past he published articles about Post-traumatic Stress Disorders and early identification of psychosis.

Fiona Cooper joined The Marian Centre in 2008, offering expertise from her comprehensive experience in the private health sector. Fiona oversees several key functions within her role including provider contract management, patient administration systems, accreditation and credentialing of providers, compliance to the organisations strategic plan and marketing. Owing to her professional dedication to keeping abreast of and strengthening industry standards, processes and guidelines Fiona represents The Marian Centre at various key industry forums.

Quality and Inpatient Therapy Coordinator

Senior Occupational Therapist, BSc(OT)(Curtin); Carrie has 2-years experience coordinating therapy programs within nursing homes and has spent the last 6-years working in private mental health services. Mrs Allmark has significant experience conducting individual and group-based therapy programs, in particular mood and anxiety management; communication and relationships as well as drug and alcohol programs.
Mrs Allmark has a particular interest in enhancing the success of discharge and reducing readmission rates.
Mrs Allmark received an award in clinical medicine and rehabilitation during her studies and has developed and implemented group therapy programs focusing on mood management, older patients with mental health disorders and activity based discussion groups. She has also written and produced relaxation training CDs.

 

Health Information Manager

BSc (HIM), Bree Eborall, a recent addition to The Marian Centre team, is a graduate of Curtin University and has been working in Western Australian hospitals for more than 5 years in a range of roles. She is responsible for managing the medical records, forms design, clinical coding and data submissions, auditing, release of information and is also the chairperson of the Information Management Committee. Bree is especially interested in clinical classification and data management as demonstrated in her participation in clinical coding education workshops and winning the NCCH Clinical Classification Award in 2008.

 

 

Day Programs Coordinator

Lyn Purdue, Senior OT & Day Patient Therapy Coordinator has been with The Marian Centre for over two years working in both the day and inpatient streams. Lyn has worked in mental health for over twenty five years including work in Melbourne and also the Pilbara and mining industry. Lyn’s work at The Marian Centre draws on her expertise in the following models - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness. Lyn also has a post graduate background in theology and qualifications in hospital chaplaincy.

Professional acknowledgement for the centres Supporters Program came from winning the prestigious Australian Private Health Association’s Baxter Award in October 2009. Lyn has been integral to the development and success of this important program.
